World Snooker hosted it's inaugural awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel, London today in support of the killing cancer charity. Many awards were given out on the night but the big one; the World Snooker player of the year went to the UK, Welsh and World Champion; John Higgins!
Two decades after playing host to a few top world snooker professionals in an invitational event in the country, India will get to see who's who of snooker on a regular basis. For, come February 2012, India will host its first-ever WPBSA ranking event.

At this year's Betfred.com World Snooker Championship the BBC enjoyed it's greatest TV ratings for a Snooker event  in the past five years. And in China the semi-final match between Ding Junhui and Judd Trump was the highest rated sports programme of 2011 to date.
John Higgins came from 10-7 behind to beat Judd Trump 18-15 in the final of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011 at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. This is John's fourth world title and his third ranking title of the season.
After fourteen days of top snooker we finally know the identity of one of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011 finalists. It's only the 21-year-old qualifier from Bristol; Judd Trump! He came through in the high-quality semi-final 17-15 over Masters champion Ding Junhui.
