John Higgins Snooker World Championship 2011John Higgins MBE (born 18 May 1975 in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire) is a Scottish professional snooker player and a four-time world snooker champion in 1998, 2007, 2009 and 2011.

With four world titles in all, John Higgins is fourth overall in the modern era, behind Stephen Hendry (7), Steve Davis (6) and Ray Reardon (6). To date, John Higgins has won a total of 28 ranking titles and compiled over 400 competitive century breaks, including five maximum 147 breaks. Since the 1996/1997 season John Higgins has never dropped below 6th in the world rankings.

After being banned from the professional tour due to breaching betting regulations, John Higgins came back strongly in Novemeber 2010 by winning the first event he played in, the fifth event of the European Players Tour Championship. John Higgins then came runner-up in the next event and then won the UK Championship in Telford, beating Mark Williams 10-9 from 9-5 down.

Since then, John Higgins has gone on to claim several more ranking titles, including the World Snooker Championship in 2011, the Shanghai Masters in 2012, and the International Championship in 2015, equalling Steve Davis's tally of ranking title wins at 28, only six behind Stephen Hendry's total.
