Mark Allen

'The Pistol'

2018 Masters Snooker Champion

Mark Allen (born 22 February 1986) is a left-handed professional snooker player from Antrim, Northern Ireland. Allen was a successful amateur and he won the IBSF World Amateur Championship in 2004 and turned professional the following year. It only took Allen only three seasons to reach snooker's top 16.

Mark Allen has reached multiple semi-finals including the 2009 World Snooker Championship in which he impressed beating defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan 13-11 in the second round. Allen won his first ranking title in 2012, the inaugural Haikou World Open in China, emphatically beating Stephen Lee 10-1 in the final.

Not shy of controversy, Mark Allen often makes headlines for his opinions. During the 2011 UK Championship he called for World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn to resign and at the 2012 Haikou World Open on Twitter he criticised the playing conditions and the area as "horrendous".

On 21st January 2018 Mark Allen won his first Triple Crown title at the 2018 Masters, beating Kyren Wilson 10–7 in the final at Alexandra Palace.
