Mark Anthony Selby (born 19 June 1983, Leicester, England) is the 2014 World Snooker champion and the 2007 runner-up, he was also the 2006 WEPFWorld Eight-ball Pool Champion. Known as a tough competitor, Selby is also an accomplished break-builder with over 300 centuries.
In 2008, Mark Selby won his first major tournament – the Masters at Wembley. En route to the final, he had edged out Stephen Hendry, Stephen Maguire and Ken Doherty, all on a 6–5 scoreline before beating Stephen Lee 10-3 in the final. Selby also won the title in 2010, beating Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final 10-9 from 9-6 behind.
Selby has also won the 2008 Welsh Open and the 2011 Shanghai Masters. He added the UK Championship title to his collection in 2012 with victories over Michael White, Ryan Day, Neil Robertson, Mark Davis and Shaun Murphy 10-6 in the final.
Mark Selby won his first World Snooker Championship in superb style in 2014, beating defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan 18-14 from 10-5 behind at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
In 2016, Mark Selby came in to the World Snooker Championship on the back of no form to speak of, and went on to beat Ding Junhui in the final 18-14 to lift his second world title. He then went on to put in a heroic performance in the final to see off Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-7 to win his second UK Championship title.
Mark Selby became only the fourth person to defend a World Snooker Championship title in 2017, battling from 8-3 behind to beat John Higgins 18-15 to win his third world title in the final at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
