Andrew Higginson from Widnes, a former welsh open finalist has won his first ever professional title by beating current world champion John Higgins 4-1 in the Players Tour Championship Event 5 (PTC5) at the World Snooker Academy, Sheffield.

World Snooker hosted it's inaugural awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel, London today in support of the killing cancer charity. Many awards were given out on the night but the big one; the World Snooker player of the year went to the UK, Welsh and World Champion; John Higgins!
