Â
12.54 - Just arrived back at the Barbican Centre and waiting for the final to start. It is the first time since the 2000 world final (Mark Williams 25 and Matthew Stevens 21) that two players under the age of 25 (Mark Allen 24 and Judd Trump 21) have reached a major ranking event final.
Both players like to play fast, attacking snooker and wont want the balls to go scrappy so it should be a very entertaining match. But understandably neither of these left-handed players have won this UK Championship title before and in Mark's case it's his first ever ranking event final so nerves probably will come in to play at some point.
I would have to slightly favour Judd Trump to come through to win tonight at the Barbican Centre. This year he has already won his maiden ranking event title the China Open and famously reaching the World final so he has the experience of major finals which Mark Allen lacks.
Also Judd has his semi-final on friday so he has had extra time to rest before the final today which in a best of 19 could be crucial when it gets down to the latter stages. But I dont think it will be a massive victory either way, it should go down to the last couple of frames if this weeks results are anything to go by.
14.55 - First two frames have been shared by the boys. Judd Trump took the first frame with a quick 70 break to go one 1-0 up and Mark Allen hit back strong straight away with a 56. He missed the frame ball but a positional error on the colours by Judd lost him the frame. 1-1 now, could be nip and tuck snooker all night.
15.11 - After Judd Trump is forced to take on a difficult long pot and misses Mark Allen capitalizes with a fantastic 141 total clearance, the second highest of the tournament. Judd will need to win the next or he will see himself 3-1 down at the interval.
16.02 - No big breaks in the 4th frame but it went down to the final four colours. After battling on the brown for a good few minutes it was Judd Trump who made the mistake which allowed Mark Allen to take advantage and win the frame. The man from Antrim leads 3-1 going in to the interval, perfect start for him.

16.27 - After they resumed from the interval there was another tactical battle on the colours at the end. This time though it was Bristol's Judd Trump who got the advantage of his opponent Mark Allen and he reduces his deficit to only 3-2 behind. Straight in to frame 5 and Judd gets off to a great start with a long pot but after only scoring 26 he loses position and misses with the rest. Chance for Mark now to get a two-frame cushion again.
16.47 - For the third frame in a row it goes down to a battle on the colours and once again it went the way of Judd Trump as he doubled the yellow the length of the table to clinch the frame. All square at 3-3.
16.58 - After scoring 33 Mark Allen missed a red in to the green pocket which allowed Trump to get in and produce some of his trademark 'naughty snooker' and make a break of 75 to take the lead again at 4-3.
17.12 - Judd Trump got straight in off a long red in the 8th and quickly knocked in a 61 break before he missed a 99 out of 100 red in to the corner pocket. After a good few balls Mark Allen had the choice whether to double a red in to the middle pocket or play safe but he went for the double, missed it and stuck it up for for Judd who went on to win the frame to go 5-3 up.
From beind 3-1 down at the mid-session interval, Judd Trump managed to win four frames on the bounce which included three frames of safety battles on the colours. Judd was favourite to win the match before the final started and now with a 5-3 lead everyone will be fancying him to gon on to win his maiden UK title.
But Mark Allen who is in his first ever ranking event final has produced some great snooker under pressure this week to reach the final and as seen with that 141 toal clearance earlier you can never write him off. He needs to get a good start going in to the final session which starts at 8PM or he could see himself 6-3 behind with a mountain to climb.

Judd Trump comes from 3-1 down to lead Mark Allen 5-3 at the end of the session.

19.38 - Back at the Barbican and ready for the final session of this years UK Championship. Mark Allen being 5-3 down needs to get off to a good start or it could be over quickly tonight. Watch live (UK) http://www.bbc.co.uk/snooker and (Rest of World) http://www.liveworldsnooker.tv
20.36 - Back in to the press room from the arena. The players got an absolutely fantastic reception from the crowd walking out tonight. Unfortunately for Mark Allen he wasn't able to get off to the good start he wanted, Judd Trump knocked in breaks of 109 and 78 to take the first two frames and take a commanding 7-3 lead. Currently on a break of 55 in the next and looking favourite to go 8-3 up.
20.51 - Rapid-fire 74 break for Judd Trump and Mark Allen battles on valiantly to get the two snookers he needed but to no avail. Judd now leads the Northern Irishman 8-3 and only needs two more frames to life his first UK Championship trophy.
21.01 - After being frozen out for two frames Mark Allen gets in off a long red and makes a brilliant 139 total clearance to reduce his deficit to 8-4 behind. Still a long way back for him but not impossible.
21.22 - And they are back on after the mid-session interval. Had a few great clips from the BBC including a great one from Stephen Hendry, Barry Hearn and a bunch of the players talking about the PTC's, changes to the UK championship format amongst things. Should be available on the BBC Snooker website tomorrow and with a great 'Shots of the tournament' clip to the music of Bonanza.
Â
23.23 - Apologies for the lack of updates, I had to go in to the arena when Trump got to 9-5. Mark Allen produced incredible snooker including breaks of 125 and 95 to bring the match back to 9-8 but an outstanding break of 91 under pressure won it for Trump, 10-8. This is Judd's second ranking event title after the China Open earlier in the year and his first major event in Britain. More to follow soon...
