English Crucible Debutants - Ben Woollaston & Jack Lisowski

Woollaston and Lisowski are experiencing the best season of their pro careers so far, having qualified for several venues and most recently they both reached the business end of the PTC Grand Finals and Lisowski made the quarter-finals of the China Open.

They faced tough opponents in the shape of Ryan Day & Fergal O'Brien and they did not disappoint their ever growing army of fans. Lisowski came through more comfortably against O'Brien, making three centuries (114, 131 & 100) to see off the former Masters finalist 10-4.

Woollaston had a trickier time against Day. Taking only a 5-4 lead in to the second session thanks to breaks of 100, 138 and 66, he made further runs of 89, then later a 117 to make it 8-8. Day took the next, scrappier frame before Woollaston forced the decider in which he made a masterful 64 to see off the two-times ranking event finalist 10-9.

It was better news for Welsh snooker fans earlier on in the evening as their brightest young prospect Michael White (no relation to Jimmy!) will be finally be making his Crucible debut, having put in a great performance to see off Andrew Higginson 10-4 with top breaks of 88 and 104.

21-year-old White has been a regular on the tour for many seasons now, having turned professional in 2007. Having qualified for several venues (including the UK Championship for the first time), he sees himself at an all-time high of 36th in the rankings and along with his fellow debutants he will be a handful whoever he draws.

Dechawat Poomjaeng will become only the third Thai player to compete at the Crucible after completing a routine 10-3 victory over Jamie Cope. The Stoke potter has been having the season from hell and only recorded one half century in the match, but take nothing away from the 2010 IBSF world amateur champion, he fully deserves his place in the final stages next week.

Also successfully through qualifying today were the experienced pair of Marco Fu & Michael Holt. Fu hit a top break of 108 in the 13th to see off David Gilbert 10-6 and Holt will be making his first trip to the Crucible since 2010 after beating Mark Joyce 10-7. However it wasn't smooth sailing for the Hitman as he saw his 8-1 first session lead reduced to only 9-7 before just making it through the decider.

The final day of the Betfair World Snooker Championship qualifiers is tomorrow, can six-times runner-up Jimmy White make his first appearance at the Crucible for seven years? He has to get past the in-form Robert Milkins to do so!
