Ton top Gould wins the Snooker Championship League 2013
Even though London's Martin Gould has yet to win a major ranking so far in his career, he is the Shoot Out, Power Snooker and a PTC Champion and can now add the snooker Championship League trophy to his growing collection.
In the tournament which is the only event online to be broadcasted to bookmakers exclusively, Gould performed brilliantly in his semi-final against recent PTC Grand Final champion Ding Junhui, making runs of 84, 45 and 37 to come through a 3-0 winner.
In the final he faced German Masters champion Ali Carter who took a 2-1 lead with top breaks of 33 and 55. Gould hit back with a 68 to take it to a decider before making a fantastic break of 100 after Carter could only manage 22 points to win the title.
As well as the trophy and a spot in next season's Premier League snooker event, he also takes home a total of £20,800 for his efforts in the tournament. He credits his recent successes to his coaching work with Stephen Feeney at Site Rite UK.
Gould unfourtunately was unable to qualify for the upcoming China Open in Beijing. However thiw could be a good thing for the world no.21, as he is able to focus all his efforts on the World Championship qualifiers which start shortly after in Sheffield.
