PartyPoker.net German Masters 2012 Final - Stephen Maguire v Ronnie O'Sullivan Live
Afternoon Session
13.34 - The Berlin Tempodrom is buzzing in anticipation for today's final. Both players have had some incredible matches this week.
Ronnie O'Sullivan's best came in the first round when he was 4-0 down to Andrew Higginson and came back to win 5-4 and Stephen Maguire when he was 4-2 down to beat Judd Trump 5-4 on the last black in the quarter-finals.
14.11 - Great reception for the players and referee Michaela Tabb when they entered. The German fans were especially up for it after an exhibiton from Steven Davis before the match.
14.16 - Maguire 0-1 (111) O'Sullivan - Best possible start for the Rocket as Maguire runs out of position on 26 after the pink is respotted and O'Sullivan gets in for a great 111 clearance.
14.29 - Maguire (130) 1-1 O'Sullivan - It's one visit stuff as Maguire gets in off a fantastic long red and makes the highest break of the tournament; 130, which sets the target for the 2,000 euro high break prize.
14.41 - Maguire (106) 2-1 O'Sullivan - Maguire gets in with a great long red after O'Sullivan could only score 8. Great potting including a tough red with the swan-neck rest to make a 106 break gives the Scot a 2-1 lead.
14.57 - Maguire (128) 3-1 O'Sullivan - Another century from Maguire, this time a 128. One more away from the shared record of five centuries in a row.
15.34 - Maguire 4-1 (58) O'Sullivan - Unfortunately no record as O'Sullivan stops the century break run after missing a red on 58. Maguire only could score 47 before failing to get a split on one of the remaining reds. Maguire gets in off a safety mistake from O'Sullivan and he steals the frame to extend the lead.
15.57 - Maguire 4-2 O'Sullivan - Match has been scrappier since they resumed from the interval. Maguire had a great chance to steal the frame once again but missed a straight forward green as O'Sullivan finally gets a second frame on the board.
16.23 - Maguire 5-2 O'Sullivan - O'Sullivan misses a straightforward red pot at 20 and Maguire does enough to eventually take the frame to extend his lead to 5-2.
16.34 - Maguire 5-3 (75) O'Sullivan - Maguire did little wrong as O'Sullivan picks off a great long pot and makes a break of 75 which included an ultra-thin clip on a red with the rest to keep him within touching distance of his opponent.
They resume at 8.30 (Berlin time) tonight, the target for the trophy and the 50,000 euro first prize is 9 frames.
Stephen Maguire leads Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-3 after the afternoon session.
Evening Session
20.27 - Capacity crowd once again at the Tempodrom and once again Steve Davis is warming up the crowd with some of his jokes and trick shots. They absolutely loved it here, I think him or some of the other legends should do mini-exhibititions before major finals, it gives a good excuse to get people in to the arena earlier and buy more drinks/food.
20.47 - Maguire (58) 6-3 O'Sullivan - Maguire loses position on 46 but manages to get straight back in after O'Sullivan misses a long red and make a 58 break to extend his lead to 6-3.
21.03 - Maguire 6-4 (96) O'Sullivan - Maguire once again runs out of position on 40 and goes for a tricky red to the top corner but misses it which leaves O'Sullivan in to make a 96 break and reduce the gap at 6-4.
21.24 - Maguire 6-5 (54) O'Sullivan - The high standard of this final continues as runs of 24 and 54 from O'Sullivan puts him only one behind Maguire at 6-5. Maguire really needs to stamp his authority on this match or he could see his lead slip away like it did in the Welsh final against John Higgins last year.
21.51 - Maguire 6-6 O'Sullivan - Fantastic shot from yellow to the final green on the top cushion from O'Sullivan gets him from 6-3 down to 6-6 and now looking favourite to win the match. Maguire looks deflated at the moment, can he recover during the mid-session interval?
22.21 - Maguire 6-7 (67) O'Sullivan - O'Sullivan runs out of position on 67 and leaves Maguire with a chance but opts to pot the blue off a red leaving himself a snooker. He fails to get it and O'Sullivan wins his fourth frame in a row to take the lead for the first time since the first frame at 6-7.
22.35 - Maguire 6-8 O'Sullivan - Runs of 43 and 32 were eventually enough to see O'Sullivan through this frame after Maguire misses the cannon on the bunch and the subsequent red with the rest.
O'Sullivan now needs one more frame for his first full ranking title since his 2009 Shanghai Masters win.
23.01 - Maguire 7-8 O'Sullivan
23.48 - Maguire 7-9 O'Sullivan
Ronnie O'Sullivan is the German Masters 2012 champion!
