Seniors World Championship: Day 1

First day of action from the Snooker Seniors World Championship at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford where the draw for the last 8 was revealed and the result from the Ebdon-Bond first round match.

Today the draw was revealed for the quarter finals. Notable ties include the repeat of the 1986 and 1987 World Championship finals between Joe Johnson and Steve Davis.Also two of the Snooker Legends who will be on tour next year; Cliff Thorburn and Jimmy White will battling it out for a semi-final place.

The other matches are former World Champions Dennis Taylor vs John Parrott and the "Darling of Dublin" Ken Doherty versus Nigel Bond who caused an upset beating Peter Ebdon 2-0 in the first round match. Bond won a first tight frame on the pink and black then went onto score a 52 break in the next frame to clinch the match 2-0.

The winner of the event takes home £20,000 whilst the runner up gets £10,000.
