Leicester's Tom Ford had already recorded an impressive 4-2 victory over Martin Gould in the first round and he followed it up to become the first to reach the quarter-finals of the Databet PTC Grand Finals, beating Jack Lisowski 4-3.
After a tense opening frame was won by Lisowski, Ford reached top gear and rolled in a fantastic 134 (tournament highest break so far) to level the match. After that his opponent found some rythym, winning the next two with a top run of 51.
From 3-1 down, Ford never looked back and nicked the next two, followed by a crucial 55 in the decider to win the match 4-3.

He plays the winner of Marco Fu v Ali Carter in the quarter-finals. Fu himself came through a tricky encounter against Mark Joyce 4-2, earlier in the afternoon.
However the day was marred by several matches running late, which meant that ultimately Mark Allen's match against Joe Swail which should of gotten on at around 10pm, didnt even start until just after midnight (and at the time of writing, is still going on.)
It was hard to imagine that you could finish six matches on one table at all around 2 hours each. The good news is that World Snooker have promised to look in to changing the format for next year's event.Â
