Day 4

First through to the last 16 today was China's Liang Wenbo who since reaching the Shanghai Masters final in 2009 has not had much to show for himself and he dropped fast down the rankings. Following an impressive 4-0 win over Fergal O'Brien he beat James McGouran 4-2 and young Jak Jones 4-1 to set up a clash with Shaun Murphy tomorrow who impressed with wins over Kurt Maflin 4-2, Alfie Burden 4-0 and Nigel Bond 4-1.

Another top 16 star through to finals day was the Captain Ali Carter. Ali hasn't had a good run in the PTC's since the 2nd event at the academy and he looked in fine form when he played Judd Trump in the third round. Judd quickly took a 2-0 lead then Ali came back strongly and looked the more confident of the two and ultimately won the match 4-3. He plays Matthew Stevens in the last 16 who came through again amateur Ben Harrison 4-2 in the third round.

The 2006 world champion Graeme Dott had a midnight finish against legend Steve Davis. Steve had been suffering from a chesty cough today but still managed to make it through to the 3rd round, but unfortunately for the Nugget, Graeme came through the decider to set a last 16 match with Jamie Jones from Wales who you might remember reached the final of PTC5 last season.

Jimmy faces the winner of Dave Harold v Li Yan who are currently 1-1 as of 00:30am.
