'Hitman' Michael Holt had not won many matches in the PTC this season and had failed to qualify for both the Shanghai Masters and the 12BET.com World Open, but he regained all his form of old today to beat John Higgins 4-3 in the final of the Sixth European Players Tour Championship in Prague.
Holt had won the first 2 frames, but in classic Higgins style he bounced back to level the match 2-2 with a 100 break in the second. Higgins then took a scrappy fifth frame to lead 3-2. But not letting himself be defeated so easily, Holt showed his strength and dominated the last two frames to win the match and the tournament.
He takes home the grand prize of 10,000 Euro's and 2,000 ranking points, but more importantly this win makes sure that he gets a place in the televised PTC finals next march. Congratulations to the Hitman! This should make him all the more confident going into the UK Championship qualifiers in Sheffield at the weekend.
