Some very interesting ties and match up's there. Probably the hardest to predict one would be the match between Matthew Stevens and Mark Allen. Up to 11th provisionally Matthew Stevens is almost guarenteed to be back in the top 16 next season where as Mark Allen has struggled in recent events and finds himself down in 14th.
Â
The openining match of the tournament will be Neil Robertson against Judd Trump, what a cracker! Both players play fast, attacking Snooker and are both very popular with fans. Judd is the local boy and will be getting plenty of support also so it will be a tantalising match up. Welsh fans will be savouring the chance to see Mark Williams against Ryan Day. Both players are in top form recently and Ryan will be pushing Williams here who is one of the favourites going into the tournament. It will be fascinating to see how Ronnie O'Sullivan will be playing against Dominic Dale. Down to 10th provisionally due to a string of tournament withdrawals and first round losses he will desperately need the ranking points and Ronnie always seems to come good for the world championship's so Dom will need to be on his a-game.
Â
On first glance it looks as if the top half is the "easier" path to the final with Williams, Higgins, O'Sullivan, Murphy and Stevens in the bottom half but with stalwarts such as Ding, Selby, Robertson and Dott in the top you can never be to careful.
The tournament starts on the 16th of April and will be broadcast as usual by the BBC and EuroSport.
