Mark Joyce hasn't experienced the best of seasons so far, not winning many PTC matches or qualifying for any televised venues, but he has showed some amazing snooker in the last 6 days, including beating Jak Jones 9-7, Alfier Burden 9-7, and today impressively beating EPTC3 Marcus Campbell 9-8 on the colours to book a final round tie with former UK Champion Steve Davis, for a place at Telford.
Whilst Michael White wasn't so lucky (lost 9-6 to Jamie Burnett), the Whirlwind Jimmy White performed extremely well for the second match in a row to beat Telford local Adrian Gunnell 9-4. Over the last few weeks Jimmy has had a mini-resurgence, winning the World Seniors Championship and playing extremely well in this tournament, many make him favourite to beat Joe Perry in the next round, and set up a mouth-watering clash with Stephen Hendry at the venue.
Not all the veterans made it through though, Tony Drago suffered a 9-6 defeat by the hands of PTC2 winner Tom Ford and most recent EPTC winner Michael Holt unfortunately lost 9-4 to Patrick Wallace. As more often the case than not, Holt has been plagued with extreme inconsistency, lets hope he can produce a better string of results in the second half of the season.
