The provisional format of the event includes 20 two-man teams from around the world and World Snooker expects to release full details in the coming weeks. At the moment the criteria for selecting the players for the event has not been finalised
To quote World Snooker: "To stage a World Cup would be tremendously exciting for snooker and we are delighted to be working towards this alongside our colleagues in Thailand."

This event could be really entertaining if it is staged and broadcast properly. It would be great to see a range of top players from around the world competing under with their national team. And it gives players from smaller nations that wouldn't usually been seen on TV a chance of exposure and to play against the top pro's such as the Netherlands, Germany, India etc.
You would have to fancy either Scotland (Higgins, Maguire, Dott, Hendry), England (O'Sullivan, Carter, Selby, Murphy) or Wales (Williams, Day, Stevens) to take the cup, but China, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Thailand and of course Australia will all field strong teams also.
