Judd Trump has little to show for at the start of this season as he suffered consecutive first round defeats in PTC1 and at the televised stages of the Australian Goldfields Open against Mark Davis. But he bounced back yesterday at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester as he spent little time (41 minutes) in beating the Masters champion Ding Junhui 4-0 in the final.
Â
Â
The crucial frame had to be the second as it went down to the deciding black. Ding was left with a semi-difficult pot on it but he jarred the ball and left it on for Judd which he duly potted. This gave Judd a 2-0 lead and Ding didn't look the same after as Judd blasted through the last two frames to win the match 4-0 and to capture the title.

It's good to see Judd back to close his form from China and the World Championship and players will now be fearing him once again. Who knows what the next few months will bring for Judd, he will be playing in the premier league over the next few months so that gives him more match practice so if he keeps it up, he could be one of the favourites for the UK Championship in December.

Once again, a big thanks to the staff at the South West Snooker Academy for being just as accommodating in this event as they were when I visited for the Pink Ribbon tournament a few months back. I believe it is the best place to play qualifying and other non-televised tournaments in the country and the facilities are top notch.

Â
The academy will be holding the under 18 EBSA junior event soon and another PTC in October. Their biggest event so far arguably has to be the UK Championship qualifiers which will be a tense affair for all players involved. Find out more about the academy and these events here.

Once again, congratulations to Judd Trump and all the best for the rest of the season!
