CRUCIBLE DRAW

Seven-times king of the Crucible Stephen Hendry has made two maximum breaks at the Crucible Theatre before, the last being in 2009 which was infact the last time a 147 was made at the World Snooker Championship. Hendry takes home £40,000 for the maximum break and £10,000 for the high break unless another one is made in the tournament.

Hendry was looking strong in his first round match against Stuart Bingham having made a 100 break early on, but no one was expecting what was to come from the qualifier in the 7th frame. From early on the 147 always looked on and with some fantastic positional pots he made the fantastic break. He finished the session 8-1 overnight.

After the session Hendry said "I have a match still to win, but the 147 was probably one of my best, position-wise, and it was absolutely fantastic to make a third maximum at the World Championship."

"I felt really good out there, and the jet lag – well, sleep is for wimps. It's the new way, fly into Sheffield the day before with no practice!

"That [the 147 break] ties me with Ronnie and there is no better feeling than to make one here." Quotes - Guardian
